Check out the video by your fellow students here at St. John’s for some helpful study tips to get you through finals week. Good luck to everyone!
Keys to Successful Studying
1.) Time Management. Create a schedule to help keep you on task and focused and weed out those non-essential commitments.
2.) Rest. We have all pulled an all-nighter or two but this is definitely not the way to go. Getting those 8hrs of sleep will help you stay better focused and make the most of your time when your awake.
3.) Pace Yourself. Sometimes cramming is inevitable, but attempt to study your material in chunks with a 10 to 15 minute break every few hours. Get up, stretch your arms and legs and then get back to it.
4.) Eat Healthy Snacks and Meals. We are what we eat, right? Give yourself the brain food you need, plenty of fruits, veggies, whole-grains and essential fatty acids. This will help your brain better process information. A coffee is okay here and there but water is what your body really craves when your studying.
The most important is to remain confident, positive and focused! Good luck this week on all your finals from everyone in Student Engagement!

Now that the DAC and Starbucks have extended hours we all can get that caffeine fix as we study right here on campus. If your feeling adventurous take a peak at the wall beside the counter to see what some of your fellow Johnnies are choosing as their go to pick-me-up. So grab a cup of joe on your way to studying today… you know you want to.
Good luck on finals and happy studying from all of us in Student Engagement!
